Lunch with Abby at Terrain

I went to this place called Terrain with my sister for lunch. It is a garden shop so there are plants everywhere and its realllly pretty. We started off with "spritzers" with fresh herbs. They also gave us bread in a pot! and lavender honey butter.. yum. Then we shared the cheese board.. it was SO good. I got a hummus platter with endive, mushrooms, and asparagus. Abby got a salad with fennel, apples and almonds.

Fiddlehead fern

I went out to dinner with my parents the other night and my mom's side dish had fiddlehead ferns in it. Never had them/heard of them before! My mom thought they kinda tasted like pasta?

Yin and Yang

I thought these two shots were appropriate for my first entry. The first is an old photo from Carl's Drive In in St.Louis. Like most of my food pictures, I forgot to snap it before I started eating. However, I think the picture is as a perfect representation of Carl's, highlighting the essential - a triple cheeseburger with Carl's standard edition of "everything" (pickles, onion, ketchup), french fries, and the famous homemade root beer.

The second is a quinoa vegetable salad with a red wine vinaigrette . Its really good...not much more to say.
